Greetings,
Thank you for your interest in joining this Lenten book study blog. The study official begins on Ash Wednesday, which is February 25, 2009 but people can begin posting whenever they are ready.
The book we are studying is "Walk Humbly With Our God" by Fr. Andrew Apostoli.
Here are my suggestions to get the most out of this study.
1. Read and post on the assigned chapters PRIOR to read the postings of others. ---- You might want to type your postings in a word document prior to pasting them here so that you don't loose them while working on them. You can however save drafts here to post later.
2. When you post put your name first and then the chapter number on the Title line for each new posting.
3. Try to keep up but just do your best. The study probably won't be completed until after Easter but a good Lenten resolution should help us form good habit and be carried over into our post Lenten life so we will just keep going until the book is finished
4. When you post try to give more than a synopsis. Give examples of how the chapter pertains to your faith journey, how it is challenging you, how you can apply the ideas and principles and do ask questions in your post. Thought provoking questions will challenge others to think and it will encourage comments and further discussion.
5. This blog will only be helpful to you if you read and participate. Each participant will bring something unique. So far their are Catholics, fallen away Catholics, at least one Protestant, and people I don't even know are signed up. Let's be respectful yet honest when expressing our views and insights.
6. Prayer: Prior to reading and posting please say a prayer for the Holy Spirit to guide you. It can be a long or short formal or spontaneous prayer or something as simple as "Let all I say and do, be done and said in the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.
7. Once you join this blog I will scan and send you the lessons but just until you obtain a copy of your book. Let me know if you need me to do this.
8. If you have any other thoughts or insights about blogging, please post them.
9. You are welcome to invite others to join this study.
Let's start this blog by giving a brief description of ourselves. Share only what you want but consider sharing your first name;
state where you live;
why you are joining this blog,
who invited you to join;
have you blogged before;
have you read the book before; etc.
God bless each and everyone of you (my old and new friends).
Ruth
